This team works closely with Development and Operations teams to align best practices in Cloud technologies. The Lead Platform Specialist within the Cloud Broker Team collaborates with development and operations teams to solve operational issues and create tools, processes, and systems that enhance overall operational reliability and resilience. This hybrid role encompasses software development for infrastructure code, operations administration, and general problem-solving. The focus is on empowering engineering teams with expert guidance and tools in the Cloud to deliver frequent, high-quality, and reliable components.
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience administering cloud or infrastructure services in a large, diverse enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of code versioning tools, including Git and/or Subversion.
- Proficient in infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.
- Knowledge of network technologies including DNS, routers, load balancers, firewalls, etc.
- Familiarity with container-based virtualization technologies such as Docker and Rocket.
- Understanding of container orchestration software such as OpenShift, Kubernetes, and Mesos.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, ArgoCD, etc.).
- Proficient in programming languages such as Java, NodeJS, Python, etc.
- Experience in automation/scripting (Shell, Python, etc.).
- Experience with Golang is a plus.
- Knowledge of private cloud platforms and hybrid cloud architecture models.
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms including Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc.
- Intermediate knowledge of primary AWS services (IAM, VPC, EC2, RDS, Route53, S3, etc.).
- Understanding of developer tools such as GitHub, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, etc.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, OpenShift Pipelines, GitHub Actions, etc.
- Understanding of application and HTTP servers such as Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, JBoss, WebSphere, etc.
- Knowledge of databases such as Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.
- Basic understanding of integration middleware such as MQ, EAI, ESB, API Gateway, etc.
- Basic understanding of monitoring tools such as Nagios, Dynatrace, etc.
- Basic understanding of job scheduling software such as cron, Control-M, JP1, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited college/university or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of operational experience.
- Preferable experience in software development/scripting.
- Some experience with application performance monitoring, alerting mechanisms, and automated remediation.
- Administration experience in Linux systems.
- Ability to quickly triage problems under pressure, determine root causes, and drive resolution.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, evolving, and dynamic environment.
- Curiosity to explore new ideas and a passion for making them happen.
- A desire to be mentored and to grow.
- A strong desire to work with various technologies to become a cross-functional member of the DevOps community.
