Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Engineer to join our team, focusing on management of business-critical data stores and models. As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of our data, ensuring consistent and secure data availability to upstream and downstream services and systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including middleware, network, and software engineers, to maintain robust data pipelines and systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement data quality control and validation procedures to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across systems.
  • Define and understand business application data requirements and work with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability and accessibility.
  • Manage and coordinate the work of external developers with business stakeholders for new or enriched data.
  • Identify and resolve data-related issues such as data quality problems, performance bottlenecks, and data integration challenges.
  • Design and implement data archiving and backup strategies to ensure data durability and availability.
  • Support the resolution of minor and major incidents of business-critical applications.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in data engineering and recommend innovative approaches and technologies to improve data management processes.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of proven experience working as a data professional.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data warehousing concepts within a "big" enterprise data paradigm.
  • Knowledge in environments (Linux and Windows) and server-side scripting (particularly bash scripting).
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases. Experience with Informatica PowerCenter, Master Data Management Familiarity with data governance, data privacy, and data security best practices.
  • Ability to communicate in writing and speech in Japanese (business level) and English (intermediate to advanced, in an IT or Technology work environment).
  • Strong self-starter and communicator able to reach out independently to different teams and experts to gather requirements, synthesize knowledge, and manage communication with relevant stakeholders.

Nice-to-have Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in data modeling, data architecture concepts in practice (e.g., data mesh, data vault).
  • Experience in optimizing and tuning data storage systems to maximize performance and minimize latency, considering factors such as data volume, query complexity, and user requirements.
  • Solid programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and their data-related services (e.g., S3, Redshift, BigQuery).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex data scenarios and troubleshoot.
