Project Finance Specialist - Renewable Energy

We are now looking for a talented and experienced Project Finance Specialist to join our dynamic finance team, a leading independent player in the renewable energy sector in Japan with presence in Asia. The Project Finance Specialist will report to the group leaders of the Finance team within Investment & Finance and can expect to be involved in the management of a wide range of financial aspects of renewable energy projects.

Responsibilities
This role presents a unique opportunity for a finance professional with a background in project finance, particularly from a banking perspective to join a fast growing renewable energy developer with a strong pipeline of projects in Japan, Asia and Australia. The expectation is that the Project Finance Specialist has the skills and expertise to execute project finance transactions with some support to be provided where required from the group leaders.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in structuring, analyzing, and managing the financial aspects of renewable energy projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Structuring and Financial Modeling:|
- Collaborate with project development teams to structure financing arrangements for renewable energy projects.
- Update financial models to assess project feasibility, incorporating complex financing structures and ensuring alignment with investment criteria.
2. Due Diligence:
- Lead financial due diligence efforts for potential renewable energy investments, working closely with legal, technical, and environmental advisors.
- Review all key contracts and understand key bankability points in particular power purchase agreements and construction arrangements.
3. Financial Documentation and Deal Execution:
- Prepare and comment on term sheets,
- Review financial documentation, and work with all stakeholders (in house legal and external lawyers) to achieve successful closing of financings.
4. Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with banks and other financial institutions in Japan and overseas.
- Act as a key liaison between the finance team and project development teams to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
5. Market Research and Analysis:
- Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting project finance in the renewable energy sector in Japan and overseas.
Qualifications
Employment type: Full-time contract (keiyaku-shain)
Working hours: 8 hours per day flex time (no core hours)
Working style: Hybrid (remote work allowed for up to 4 days/week)
Holidays: 10-20 days of paid leave depending on tenure; 7 days Shizen Energy special leave, maternity/paternity leave etc.
