Position Overview:

Our client is seeking a highly skilled tax professional to lead and enhance tax-related processes and procedures in collaboration with various internal functions, including accounting and other support teams. This role will focus on managing tax reporting, forecasts, provisions, and ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve tax processes in alignment with cross-functional teams, including accounting and support departments.
  • Oversee and monitor tax reporting, including income tax, deferred tax assets (DTA), withholding tax (WHT), and the effective tax rate.
  • Administer tax risk management for local entities, ensuring full compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
  • Manage tax assessments and audits, coordinating with external tax authorities, government bodies, and internal functions.
  • Provide tax advisory support on various business matters, including corporate projects, cross-border transactions, new business models, and organizational changes.
  • Collaborate with local and global tax teams on transfer pricing (TP) matters for the relevant entities.
  • Support tax projects and initiatives related to local jurisdiction matters.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax legislation and inform relevant stakeholders of regulatory updates that may impact internal processes.
  • Lead internal training on tax-related topics for the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Tax, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of relevant experience in the tax field (experience with Big 4 firms or multinational corporations is highly preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of local tax laws and regulations with a strong understanding of local practices.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, with excellent multitasking and organizational abilities.
  • Strong analytical, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional qualification such as Registered Public Tax Accountant, CPA, or equivalent is a plus.
  • Proficiency in both English and Japanese, both written and spoken.
