About the role

As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for extracting insights and value from large and complex datasets to drive data-driven decision-making and support various business initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including analysts, marketers, and other stakeholders, to identify and solve complex business problems using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques. Together with the team, you are expected to be designing, implementing, analyzing, and presenting data in a format that allows stakeholders to make data-informed decisions effortlessly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to understand data patterns, relationships, and quality.
  • Cleanse, preprocess, and transform data for analysis and modeling purposes.
  • Develop and implement statistical models and machine learning algorithms to solve business problems.
  • Apply regression analysis, time series analysis, clustering, classification, and other advanced techniques to extract insights and make predictions.
  • Optimize and fine-tune models to improve accuracy and performance.
  • Visualize and present data-driven insights to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Translate complex statistical concepts into understandable insights for non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics and validate results.
  • Support the deployment of models into production environments such as Dataiku and monitor their performance.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends, techniques, and advancements in data science and machine learning.

Work Environment

Working in the Data team prepares data for various internal data stakeholders including technical people and businesspeople. We collaborate with the Data team based in Paris, France. To do well in this role you need an exceptionally fine eye for detail, experience with statistical modeling, and a deep understanding of the popular data science tools and databases. We work in a multi-lingual environment: Japanese and English.

Requirements

Expected Experience

  • A degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related major.
  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role, with a track record of delivering impactful data-driven solutions.
  • Strong competency with SQL; experience with data warehouses such as BigQuery is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or similar for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Looker, Power BI, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of data science platforms (e.g., Dataiku) and their machine learning services is desirable.
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLM) is a plus.
